ONLINE — Two NBA fanbases entered the fourth consecutive day of a hostile online argument Thursday despite neither side being able to remember what originally caused it.
“I think it started with a ranking?” said one participant. “Or maybe somebody said our bench was overrated.”
The discussion has since expanded to championships won before either participant was born, free-agent decisions, attendance figures, television ratings, weather, taxes, airport quality, and one city’s alleged lack of good sandwiches.
Screenshots from previous seasons are being reposted as evidence, while unrelated injuries have been introduced to invalidate entire playoff runs.
Attempts to identify the original disagreement failed when both sides discovered the earliest visible post was already a reply to something deleted.
Participants agreed the argument had become exhausting but said leaving now would allow the other fanbase to believe it had won.
A fifth day is expected to begin after somebody posts the word “poverty.”
