NEW YORK — Jalen Brunson hosted the season premiere of Saturday Night Live this weekend and, according to fictional production sources, needed less than one rehearsal before accidentally turning the entire Knicks appearance into another half-court set.
What began as a comedy sketch reportedly became a full team activity after Brunson started pointing teammates toward marks, correcting timing and demanding better spacing near the monologue stage.
Karl-Anthony Towns handled the spacing.
Mikal Bridges stayed ready on the weak side.
OG Anunoby was immediately assigned the hardest role in the sketch despite receiving almost no dialogue.
Josh Hart somehow appeared in every scene whether he had been written into it or not.
‘We told Jalen this was rehearsal,’ one fictional NBC producer said. ‘He nodded and asked where the shot clock was.’
Witnesses said Brunson repeatedly stopped scenes to move teammates several feet, then calmly resumed after determining everybody was finally in the correct place.
The cast reportedly appreciated his attention to detail until he began drawing actions on the cue cards.
At one point, a producer asked Brunson to deliver a punchline directly into Camera 2.
Brunson responded by using Camera 2 as a screen and turning the corner toward Weekend Update.
Knicks teammates insist the experience was fun and significantly less complicated than some of their normal late-game sets.
Unfortunately, NBC has since informed Brunson that he is not actually coaching Saturday Night Live.
