MEMPHIS — After trading Ja Morant to Portland and bringing in Jerami Grant, Isaiah Stewart, Cameron Boozer and other new pieces, Memphis officials have reportedly decided the organization needs a brief recovery session before beginning its next chapter.
Players arrived at the facility expecting basketball drills and instead found massage tables, compression boots, smoothies and one unusually relaxed therapy dog.
“This is organizational recovery,” one fictional staffer explained.
The Grizzlies insist the team is excited about its new direction, particularly a young core that now includes No. 3 pick Cameron Boozer.
Still, coaches acknowledge that after years of injuries, suspensions, rumors and general Memphis basketball chaos, everyone deserves at least one quiet afternoon.
Cameron Boozer reportedly asked when practice starts.
The dog looked at him.
Practice has been postponed until tomorrow.
