NEW YORK — NBA training camps officially opened this week, triggering the league’s annual 10-day period in which all 30 teams are simultaneously deeper, healthier, more connected and significantly more dangerous than they were four months ago.

Players across the league reported arriving in the best shape of their lives, while several veterans confirmed they had added muscle without losing speed and multiple young players revealed completely rebuilt jump shots that have yet to miss in controlled practice environments.

“We’ve never been this connected,” said approximately 26 teams, including several whose rotations were assembled three weeks ago.

Coaches also praised a renewed commitment to defense, ball movement and accountability, while carefully avoiding any explanation for why those concepts disappeared during the previous season.

Around the league, previously injured stars are feeling “100 percent,” bench players are “ready for bigger roles,” and every offseason acquisition has already brought an energy that “doesn’t show up in the box score.”

Front offices remain encouraged.

One executive said his roster now goes “10 or 11 deep,” a development analysts expect to last until roughly the second week of November, when six players will apparently become unplayable.

League officials confirmed optimism will remain unlimited through preseason.

The first actual regular-season loss is expected to reduce supply dramatically.
