ATLANTA — An NBA player has quietly transitioned his public identity from “underrated” to “disrespected” after appearing on national television for the third consecutive week.
“Underrated worked when nobody talked about him,” explained one branding consultant. “Now people talk about him constantly, so the grievance needed a scalable update.”
The player’s social media bio no longer references being slept on and instead features language about doubters, agendas, narratives, and people who apparently still do not understand.
Teammates said the shift was inevitable after analysts began ranking him highly enough that claiming invisibility became difficult to defend.
Fans have embraced the new persona, arguing that every compliment actually proves how long recognition took and therefore remains evidence of disrespect.
The player insisted he does not care about rankings before citing three rankings, two podcasts, and a television segment that placed him one spot too low.
