Wilson vs. Boozer Gets a Fourth Quarter, Which Preseason Did Not Request

Grizzlies 104, Bulls 100

Memphis beat Chicago 104–100 after building a 14-point first-half lead with its projected rotation on the floor. Caleb Wilson turned the second half into a rookie showcase, finishing with 21 points and five made threes as the Bulls pushed the game back within one possession late. Cam Boozer gave Memphis 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in 12 minutes, while the Grizzlies’ starting group supplied enough early control to survive Chicago’s closing push. This was still preseason, but somebody forgot to tell the two lottery picks once the fourth quarter started.

Şengün Posts a Triple-Double in 22 Minutes, Macao Immediately Requests a Larger Box Score

Rockets 135, Mavericks 117

Houston handled Dallas 135–117 in Macao and never trailed, taking a 65–45 lead into halftime before both teams emptied deeper into their preseason rotations. Alperen Şengün somehow fit a 16-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double into 22 minutes. Tari Eason led Houston with 20 points, while Fred VanVleet added 17 points and seven assists. Dallas still got the part it wanted from Cooper Flagg, who scored 19 points in 19 first-half minutes before sitting after halftime. Houston won comfortably; the box score spent the morning doing considerably more work than necessary for October.

Three conclusions we will deny by lunch.
01

Alperen Şengün recorded a 16-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double in 22 minutes, apparently unaware preseason is supposed to be a light administrative exercise.

02

Caleb Wilson hit five threes and scored 21 as Chicago turned a 14-point first-half Memphis lead into an actual fourth-quarter game.

03

Houston led Dallas 65–45 at halftime in Macao, proving jet lag remains an optional defensive scheme.
