CHICAGO — The Bulls have acquired Buddy Hield and cash, then immediately confirmed that the cash will be given a legitimate opportunity to earn meaningful bench minutes.
Team officials described both incoming assets as capable of helping immediately, although early internal evaluations suggest Cash may have an unusually flexible role.
‘Cash can play multiple positions,’ said one fictional Bulls executive. ‘It can become a shooter, a backup big, future flexibility or eventually another completely different player.’
Hield, meanwhile, is expected to provide shooting and veteran experience while competing with several teammates for rotation minutes.
Cash has reportedly been assigned its own locker, seat and account number.
Coaches insist nothing has been promised, but observers noted that Cash already spent most of practice exactly where Chicago expects it to contribute: sitting quietly beside the bench while maintaining maximum optionality.
One assistant coach reportedly asked whether the cash needed to learn the playbook before being informed that its primary action is simply remaining available.
The Bulls believe both additions can help a roster still sorting through its next phase.
