SAN FRANCISCO — In a move league officials are calling “proactive, mature and statistically inevitable,” Draymond Green has reportedly enrolled in the NBA Fine Department AutoPay program ahead of opening night.
Sources say the program allows repeat customers to automatically process technical-foul charges, postgame-commentary assessments and the occasional supplemental discipline fee without the inconvenience of acting surprised later.
“This is really about efficiency,” Green explained. “I’m trying to stay focused on basketball, not lose time manually authorizing every payment after I passionately disagree with an official.”
The league confirmed that AutoPay members receive several premium benefits, including same-day receipt delivery, a dedicated customer service line and a monthly summary labeled “Things We Need To Talk About.”
Warriors staffers privately admitted the setup may help with budgeting, as the organization can now account for certain expenses with the same confidence most teams reserve for travel and tape.
One front-office source said Golden State had previously considered creating a separate cap sheet line titled “Competitive Feedback,” but the league office preferred the more traditional classification of “money leaving your account.”
Green reportedly selected paperless billing, text alerts and an optional feature that rounds every fine up to the nearest dollar so the process feels cleaner.
At press time, the NBA was said to be exploring whether the program should eventually include loyalty perks for players who reach certain lifetime milestones.
