CHARLOTTE — The Hornets received an unfortunate reminder this week that NBA players contain hamstrings after both Kon Knueppel and Grant Williams suffered injuries during offseason workouts.

Knueppel injured his left hamstring while Williams injured his right, creating what team doctors described as an impressively balanced distribution of hamstring problems.

Both players will miss the preseason and are scheduled to be re-evaluated during the first week of the regular season.

Charlotte had been preparing for training camp with a significantly reshaped roster built around Brandon Miller and Knueppel after moving on from LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges.

The plan was to spend camp developing chemistry.

The revised plan is apparently to locate everyone else's hamstrings before something happens to those too.

Knueppel is coming off an excellent rookie season in which he averaged 18.5 points and became the first rookie in NBA history to lead the league in total made 3-pointers.

Williams, meanwhile, had already returned last season from a lengthy absence caused by ACL and meniscus injuries.

Hornets officials remain optimistic both players will recover normally and emphasized that neither injury requires panic.

Charlotte fans acknowledged the announcement before staring silently into the distance.

Medical staff have reportedly begun examining the rest of the roster and have confirmed that, unfortunately, every player appears to possess two hamstrings.

Training camp begins Tuesday.

The Hornets are hoping to keep it that way.
