INDIANAPOLIS — With Tyrese Haliburton returning to a Pacers roster that also added Kelly Oubre Jr. and Larry Nance Jr., Indiana coaches reportedly celebrated by removing the brakes from the offense entirely.
The first training-camp scrimmage lasted approximately nine minutes and contained 74 possessions.
Several assistants attempted to call timeout but were informed the team had already completed another fast break.
Haliburton reportedly looked comfortable directing traffic, pushing pace and throwing passes that required teammates to begin cutting several seconds before they personally realized they were open.
“We want to ease him back in,” one fictional coach explained while players sprinted behind him. “Nothing crazy.”
A player then launched a transition three with 21 seconds remaining on the shot clock.
Indiana officials believe last season’s adversity has made the team more mature.
They have not yet found evidence it made them slower.
