TORONTO — The Raptors reportedly devoted the opening portion of their first practice with Kawhi Leonard to reminding the returning star where everything is.
Team staff walked Leonard through the practice facility, pointing out the locker room, weight room, training tables and several hallways he last used during Toronto’s 2019 championship season.
“Some things have changed,” a Raptors staffer explained. “But the basket is still in roughly the same place.”
Leonard reportedly nodded.
Several longtime employees welcomed him back, while newer staff members were quietly informed that yes, this is the same Kawhi from all the photos.
The Raptors also provided Leonard with an updated building map, Wi-Fi password and brief explanation of everything that has happened with the franchise since he left.
Scottie Barnes reportedly introduced himself before realizing Kawhi already knew who he was.
Practice eventually moved to the court, where Toronto coaches were relieved to discover Leonard still remembered how basketball worked.
At press time, team officials were attempting to determine whether Kawhi’s old parking spot was still technically his.
