BROOKLYN — The Nets officially welcomed Julius Randle into a roster already featuring Michael Porter Jr. and a collection of young prospects, then reportedly gathered everyone around a whiteboard to reveal the franchise’s long-term vision.
The board was completely blank.
“We like the flexibility of the current presentation,” one fictional executive explained.
Brooklyn staffers reportedly spent the next hour drawing arrows between Randle, Porter, Egor Dëmin, Noah Clowney and several future draft picks before realizing they had accidentally created a subway map.
Randle was told his role would include scoring, playmaking, veteran leadership and potentially becoming a valuable trade asset if somebody calls in February.
Porter reportedly nodded knowingly.
The Nets insist this is not another rebuild but rather “the beginning of the competitive phase of the developmental phase of the transition phase.”
Players left the meeting encouraged.
