**SACRAMENTO** — Domantas Sabonis reportedly wants to leave the Sacramento Kings, an organization that has spent the opening six games of the season making a remarkably convincing case for why someone might want to leave the Sacramento Kings.

Unfortunately, getting out apparently requires more than simply asking.

According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, Sabonis is unhappy in Sacramento, and the Kings would be willing to move him if a suitable deal becomes available.

Brian Windhorst clarified that any trade would have to make sense for the franchise, introducing a revolutionary new concept to Sacramento's front office: evaluating whether a basketball decision is actually a good idea before making it.

The development reportedly caught several longtime Kings observers completely off guard.

Sacramento opened the season 0–6, most recently losing to Memphis by 31 points while rookie Darius Acuff Jr. attempted 25 shots and Sabonis attempted five.

For a three-time All-Star averaging 16 points, nearly 16 rebounds, and seven assists, the situation has become increasingly uncomfortable.

The Kings, meanwhile, must figure out how to trade a productive center with approximately $94 million remaining on his contract without accidentally making themselves worse.

This represents a significant philosophical departure for a franchise whose recent decision-making has rarely been accused of excessive caution.

No formal trade request has been confirmed, and no deal is imminent.

For now, Sabonis remains in Sacramento, where both sides reportedly want a solution but must first agree on what a sensible basketball decision looks like.

The Kings are hoping to identify one before the season ends.
