**NEW YORK** — Two NBA reporters have reportedly entered an escalating sources war after discovering that the only thing more valuable than having anonymous league executives is accusing another reporter of inventing theirs.

The dispute began when former Celtics player Brian Scalabrine suggested Jaylen Brown had demanded a trade from Boston, then walked back his account after the claim was challenged.

ClutchPoints reporter Brett Siegel criticized Scalabrine's reversal, prompting New York Post reporter Stefan Bondy to enter the conversation with an entirely different scouting report.

“Brett Siegel is a phony,” Bondy wrote, questioning Siegel's credibility and alleging he had no legitimate sources.

Siegel denied the accusations and defended his relationships with NBA executives, noting that he had spent years developing contacts throughout the league.

No evidence substantiating Bondy's personal allegations was presented in the exchange.

Nevertheless, the situation quickly escalated into what league observers are calling the first NBA Insider Sources Championship.

According to three completely imaginary anonymous executives, both reporters have excellent sources, although each executive privately confirmed that the other reporter's sources are terrible.

A fourth imaginary executive reportedly requested anonymity before admitting he had no idea who either reporter was.

Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown watched an argument about his departure from Boston somehow evolve into two grown men debating who has more NBA contacts.

By the end of the exchange, nobody had resolved the original trade story, but both sides had successfully reminded everyone that they know important people.

The NBA is now awaiting confirmation from Shams Charania that either reporter exists.
