MIAMI — Bam Adebayo paid an emotional tribute to his historic 83-point performance Monday night, scoring eight points on three made field goals, adding eight rebounds and three assists, and ensuring the number 83 remained an important part of his basketball legacy without actually scoring anywhere near it.

The Miami Heat lost 113–109 to Dallas, falling to 0–4 despite Adebayo's meticulous numerical tribute.

Back in March, Adebayo stunned the basketball world by scoring 83 points against Washington, surpassing Kobe Bryant's legendary 81-point performance and producing the second-highest single-game total in NBA history.

Monday, he honored that achievement by breaking 83 into smaller, more manageable pieces.

Eight points. Three field goals. Eight rebounds. Three assists.

The symbolism was impossible to ignore. Unfortunately, so was the shooting.

Adebayo finished 3-for-10 from the field, including 0-for-5 from three-point range, apparently determined not to let actual basketball interfere with the tribute.

According to fictional Heat sources, the organization was deeply moved by Adebayo's commitment to commemorating his greatest performance while contributing only 9.6 percent of its original scoring total.

"We wanted to celebrate 83 without putting too much pressure on the scoreboard," one imaginary team official explained.

Giannis Antetokounmpo contributed 29 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists, but Miami still couldn't secure its first victory of the season.

The Heat reportedly considered asking Adebayo to recreate his March performance more literally, before realizing that scoring another 83 points would completely undermine the elegance of Monday's tribute.

For Adebayo, the important thing was preserving the memory of a historic night.

**In March, Bam scored 83 points in one game. On Monday, he delivered the same number in four separate statistical categories and somehow made it feel even harder to believe.**
